Page 1 of 4 TEMA GROUP questions with TIPS:
1. What is your view on the past, present and future domestic work market in terms of qualified professionals?
In recent years, it has been increasingly difficult to fill industrial jobs. In this regard, I think that Spanish industry is facing a serious shortage of qualified technicians for skilled positions, such as welders, cabinet makers, lathe operators and machine programmers. For the time being, the influx of immigrants has provided some respite to our sector, but I think that for the long-term there should be campaigns encouraging young people to choose vocational training, specific courses for the unemployed, courses with guaranteed job offers at the end, management of immigration and promotion of immigrants to industry.
The Permanent Apprenticeship is another alternative. Improving the skills of active workers provides companies with a more secure future and offers new workers the prospect of promotion.
2. Why did you turn to hiring foreign personnel?
As I’ve already mentioned, there are few qualified professionals within the Spanish market, and those that there are demand very high salaries as they are well aware of the labour problem that the industrial sector is currently facing.
